Sephiroth's first instinct was to assure the other SOLDIER that they were not a threat compared to many other things they had faced however he said nothing as Zack moved away from him. Everything could be dealt with later after they were certain the lodge and those present were safe. A message was sent out to three of the thirds to take guard with the guards.

With that completed he selected Rufus' number and dialed it as he waited for the president to pick up. If there were others it could prove to be a real danger but if it were a matter of just a few escaped creatures that was easier to handle.

At least for the moment.

"Yeah I told Seph and Rufus isn't in, but we've been given orders."
He smiled at Denzel. "So time for your first mission under a SOLDIER title."
Zack placed a hand on Denzel's head ruffling up the fluffy hair.
"So we're going to grab a few extra men and head out. You up for this?"

Rufus stopped as he heard his phone ring. He saw the caller I.D with Sephiroth's name on screen.
He had been thinking about talking to him and Zack about moving the base.
But he wanted to avoid official work at the moment.
Regardless he flipped the phone open.
"Sephiroth to what do I owe this honor?"

"A group of creatures has been spotted several miles down the road with signs of Jenova cells. Zack has been dispatched to deal with them however it is unknown if there are others. It appears to be Hojo's work."

Sephiroth did not want to even think about the man but if he had made himself known again since his last attack then it could not be overlooked. The man was a threat, nothing more. He had to look past it all, he couldn't let the hatred for the man blind him.

"Several of my men have been placed among the guards."

It had only been a week since the mako treatments, a little less than that since he had passed the tests to become SOLDIER and began the group training. It was only some of the time he had to train with them for that. But now it was a first mission and he was ready for it.

"Yeah," Denzel glanced back over towards Zack and gave a nod. Group, one on one, and simulations could only prepare him for so much. Blue eyes flickered back towards him as he waited for the instructions.

"Where are we going?"

Tseng spotted Rufus not too far from the compound and noted the President was on the phone. He whistled softly to get Dark Nation's attention, holding his hand out for the hound to come to him.

"No I don't have any treats for you." He said softly, patting the hound on the head as he watched Rufus silently.

Reno yawned and grabbed his phone as the message tone rang out. He had tried to do as little as possible during work hours the past week, and was managing to do just that again by napping in his computer chair where he could at least pretend he had been working before he "passed out from exhaustion". He knew that Tseng was quietly glaring at him for it most of the week, but things had been quiet and it was permissible.

He frowned at the message and dragged himself out of the chair, grabbing his gun and his mag-rod before heading to Tseng's office. He paused as he saw the raven haired man going in the opposite direction and shook his head with a soft chuckle - thankfully they both knew that he was good at finding wherever Tseng was.

He jogged and caught up with him as Dark Nation ambled over and nuzzled them both for treats even as Tseng told him there were none. The hound gave a soft snort and turned, head in the air, and trotted back to Rufus.

"So, I'm figuring this isn't good, yo?" He asked Tseng lightly, watching Rufus. "Just when I was getting used to being able to sleep a whole night." He paused and smirked. "Well, most of the night anyway."

Zack sighed. "Back to those things to get rid of them."
He shook his head. "We gotta take them out."
Zack moved through the new SOLDIER's and motioned four of them out.
"You guys with us."
He hoped six of them would be enough.

Zack moved to the small six seater SUV and opened the door.
"Lets get going, we can't let them find this place. Don't want another attack so soon."

When Sephiroth mentioned the creatures and that it was Hojo's work he let out a defeated breath.
"Understood." He turned round as Dark Nation left his side.
Rufus looked to Reno and Tseng standing by, he nodded his head at them.
"Keep me updated General." He ended the call and walked up to Tseng and Reno.

"Tseng, Reno. It seems Hojo's been busy since he was last spotted."
Rufus motioned for them to walk with him. "Creatures infused with Jenova cells."

Denzel nodded as he followed close behind Zack,
his gaze locked on the first as several others were gathered. He was
used to the looks and easily slid into the SUV and took one of the back
seats. The last thing he needed was to be treated like he was more
different than he already was.

He had one on one training with
Zack, was the only child, and the only one with mako enhancement. He had
already been singled out as 'different' with 'special privileges' but
it was something he just needed to deal with without bugging Zack about
it.

Blue eyes flickered out towards the area, the staff moved into a better position between his legs.

Sephiroth snapped his phone shut as soon as Rufus hung up and his attention turned back towards the outside. With any luck the man would know enough to move inside away from the threat that could be there. There was too great a chance of injury and despite the fact that he would not mourn his loss for now Rufus had his use to him. Under the control of the WRO he was all too aware of the fact that he could lose everything.

The General turned his attention back towards the line of guards and moved back outside. His men were in place but that promised nothing. They were not the SOLDIER of old, just men with a level of training above their peers. That was all they had and a great deal more was expected of them.

Once everyone was in the SUV Zack had them on the road in record time.
It was only a short drive this time round since he had a case of lead foot this time round.

By the time he stopped outside the burger joint they were not in a visual line of sight.
So Zack guessed they had gone back to their original points of hiding.
Using the burger joint as a form of a hunting ground.
He shut the SUV off and climbed out.

"Okay eyes open and be aware these things are predators. Hunters. We gotta get rid of them before the civilians inside finish work."

Denzel gave his materia a last check before he was out of the SUV, his gaze locked forward towards the area. There wasn't anything visible yet but that didn't mean anything. Eyes flickered around, carefully watching for any sign of movement. The stench should have been enough to give them away if they were nearby.

Just like the hallucinations of his parents, the rotting flesh that clung to them.

Shoulders tensed as one of the men behind him motioned to the side, an obvious suggestion for someone to play bait. Blue flickered to the side as he moved past Zack towards the edge of the parking lot where the one had first appeared.

Tseng shook his head to Reno with a sigh of 'not now, Reno." Before he looked over at Rufus and nodded. "That would make sense, sir." He said, not knowing that Rufus was talking about the pack that was not too far from their location. He pulled out his phs and opened the message Cissnei sent to him.

"Cissnei reported in with 'unfamiliar hostiles attacking Junon.' If they are Jenova infused then Kunsel and Cissnei will have their hands full there."

Cissnei was too intent on attacking the creatures in front of her to notice the one that jumped between Kunsel and herself. They're too strong, this is not natural. The glowing red eyes caught her attention, reminding her of that ex-Turk Valentine, and she spun her shuriken quickly at another one, jumping to catch her weapon and spinning to catch the attack from the one behind her just in time.

Or show she thought, the creature's claws of one hand caught in her shuriken but the other hand came down and slashed at her shoulder, causing Cissnei to cry out in pain, falling to one knee. "Kunsel!"

Zack watched as Denzel moved to the parking lot where they had been attacked.
His hand moved to his own sword as his eyes searched the area.
He had felt them before he saw them and he hoped that would work this time around as well.
Zack moved on to the road slowly and he motioned for the other men to take their positions.

It was eerily silent, to quiet not even the sound of a single bird.
Zack was noticing this when he felt the jolt to his chest.
His hand moved to his chest as he gasped for a moment.
It was more intense than last time. It could only mean one thing.

"Keep your eyes and ears open I think they're close."

"Cissnei!" Kunsel turned quickly in time to see her on her knees and unleashed a fire spell towards the one in front of him. He hoped to hell these things weren't fireproof but didn't let the moment of relief encompass him. He hurried forward and the blade cut at the one that had attacked Cissnei.

It roared and turned back towards him, the bright glowing eyes locked on him. The claws slashed down against the blade as it was held before him. The creature was strong, too strong, its physical strength matched against his own. The blade broke loose and came across its neck and the head rolled to the side away from its body.

Two left...

One arm came down towards him and knocked the ex-SOLDIER back onto the ground. It attacked and its body was forced against the flat of the blade. If there were any more than two he would be dead, and even then he was trapped. It could still get to his stomach.

Denzel could only wait but he didn't have to wait long to see the first bit of movement from the corner of his eye. It came shuffling towards them at first but then broke out into a run. The others had to be there but he could only see the one. Eyes locked on it as the staff came up.

Sharp claws raked at his arm and through the fabric of the jacket with a sound of pain through clenched jaws as it was knocked back and the staff switched around. It hit the creature across the stomach and it grinned a feral smile. Denzel didn't know if the others had come out, what he knew was that there was blood dripping down his arm and he was facing one of them.

The creature moved again, this time it was caught across the chest with the staff before a thunder spell was cast against it.

"Shit." Cissnei swore under her breath, throwing her shuriken at the one that was on top of Kunsel, taking it's head off in a dramatic spray of blood, before clutching her shoulder to try and stem the flow of blood.

"Only one left." She called out, unable to get to it herself. I better not get any Hojo germs from this. She thought, knowing this had to be something Hojo did.. the hair, the eyes, the strength.. who else would do this madness?

Zack heard the door chime to the burger joint.
Te spun round seeing a civilian stepping outside and walking towards his car.
Headphones on the man was oblivious to his surroundings.
The first one had latched onto Denzel's movement.
He kept back this was more of a test to see if the new SOLDIER could handle this kind of problem.

Zack was glad when two of the SOLDIER's appeared by the man's side.
He jumped suddenly as they seemed to appear out of nowhere.
They escorted him to his vehicle. Zack watched him drive off.
That was when two more appeared in the road in the direction of where the man was going.

That was the second time they'd used that pattern of attack.
This time though the man swerved and Zack heard it the sound of metal being scraped.
He saw the long marks on the side of the car before it vanished in the distance.
The two creatures spotting the group of them finally.

"Okay... here we go then."

As soon as the weight shifted from him Kunsel was on his feet even as the blood sprayed over his clothing. He moved towards the final one and the blade pierced through the creature before it dropped twitching to the ground. He leaned heavily on the blade as his eyes flickered up towards Cissnei.

"You okay?"

The blue eyes flickered around as Kunsel watched and waited to see if anything else was going to come. Nothing... yet. But they couldn't be too safe. He flipped open his PHS in hopes that someone had some information for him somewhere, even if it was only about what the hell those things were. He sighed, nothing, not yet. Zack's number was quickly pulled up as he stepped over to Cissnei.

Hey buddy,
Don't know what you're up to but some
weird meat eaters dropped by here in Junon.
Hope you're having more luck than me.
Can we make a rule that nutjobs stay buried?

It was quickly sent as he turned back towards the other one. "How bad is it?"

There was an eye cast back to watch his back but for the most part he had to trust the others. That never felt like a good thing, especially given the space between them. Denzel's gaze turned back as another began to converge on him.

Pick off the smallest and weakest first or the sick and old, that was a pure instinct that seemed to be there in the back of his mind since Hojo's experiment. The were still there, ever awake, and they wanted to escape.

The creature fell to the ground and all he could do was wait for the next attack to come.

Zack heard the cry of one of the men as the creature chomped on the SOLDIER's arm.
He spun round in time to see one come at him and he swung the sword carving into the creature's gut.
Zack saw the other SOLDIER's run to the injured man's aid and pull the creature off.
It took four SOLDIER's to fight one creature where as Denzel had finished off one when another came at him.

Zack pushed at his blade carving deeper into the creature on his blade..
He could smell the stench of Jenova cells on the blood. Zack yanked the blade back. The creature crumpled to the ground.
It was at that moment he heard his phone go off and he flipped the phone open.

Kunsel.
Sounded like he was as confused as they were on these things.
Zack flicked Kunsel a quick text reply.

We got them near Healin too.
They r infused w/ Jen cells.
Hojo's handy work, got 2 b.
Becareful dude.

He sent the text off before seeing that the four SOLDIER's had finally finished off the single creature.
"Denzel you okay kiddo?"

Denzel turned as the last of the death cries died out and glanced back towards Zack with a nod. Only the claws had caught on his arm, a shallow cut that was painful in a way that deep scratches were rather than gashes. He turned back to the man that had been bit and knelt down as he cast a cure spell.

Slowly he lifted himself up as he glanced back towards Zack. "What do we do next?"

He wasn't going to be the one blamed for holding them back. He had every plan to prove to them that he was just as good as any of them. He didn't need to be coddled. Now that the creatures were dead the monsters in his mind were louder than ever. Those things had been the predator and he had survived it. They didn't like being the prey.

Denzel replaced the staff and crossed back over towards Zack.

"We're going to arrange a transport for one to the WRO's science lab."
He saw the look from the four SOLDIER's, as in a 'are you crazy?'
"TI need to know if these guys are infectious or not."
He pulled out his cellphone and dialed Reeve's personal line.
Zack wanted to know also what exactly had been pumped into these men to turn them into these creatures.
