That morning when Kadaj had awakened he found that he was alone in the hotel room, nothing but a small pile of gil atop a small velvet pouch on the dresser letting him know that he had been anything but alone. His head ached with the emptiness of not feeling Jenova within him, his hand grasping at the bed covers and drawing them closer to him as he curled up tighter. He would sleep more and move at night, the darkness would cover his movements - though he did not know where he would go.

Sleep did not come easy; he drifted into empty dreams, floating in the void within himself, the pain and anger at being abandoned not only by Mother and brothers, but by the stranger Angeal as well. He felt as though he was seen as unworthy, that he was not worth the time of those he encountered...

Green eyes flashed open as darkness fell. It took little time for him to shower and dress, his beloved Souba once again at his hip as he pulled the hooded cloak around him. He swept the money into the pouch, his hand clasped around it to stop it making a sound as he opened the window and climbed onto the ledge. The short drop did not faze or jolt him as he landed silently on his feet and head into the darkness of Edge, away from the town.

He glanced back, only for a moment, when he stepped out of the urban area and into the wilderness, his eyes fixing on the towering ruins of Midgar. He felt that perhaps he should be going there, that something was waiting for him there... He took a step to go back, but he faltered. What could possibly wait for him that didn't abandon him again?

The cloak billowed behind him as he turned his back to it again and headed into the darkness of the wilderness. He took no food, no water - he did not think to need it, nor did he think to what would happen to him when he did. He wasn't sure if he was walking to find a new life, or his death. The emptiness was all consuming and the despair was slowly driving him mad.

He walked for days without tiring, enjoying the warmth of the sun and cool of the night. Creatures avoided him as if they knew who he was, what he was. He tried to summon a Shadow Creeper for company but the creature would not come, his hand balling into a fist with frustration.

Without Mother, he was nothing. He was certain of that now.

After several days the light of a city began to glow in the darkness ahead of him. His tongue ran over dry lips, his teeth snagging on his bottom lip as he contemplated whether it would be safe to pause and take a drink. He weighed the bag of money in his hand and decided that it would not be a waste to use it on sustenance.

His step quickened slightly, his eyes closing for a moment as he picked up the scent of the sea. Junon - it would have to be. He wondered again if entering a ShinRa town was a wise idea, but his stomach was crying out for food now that it was a possibility.

Kadaj pulled the hood of his cloak closer as he walked through the town, pausing at a fast food cart and getting a burger and coke. Both were finished quickly, the wrappers discarded as he head further through the streets, something almost drawing him further in.

His ears detected the faint sound of swords and a fire fight, his hand automatically drifting to the hilt of Souba, his heart almost singing to him that no matter the battle he should join it. That to kill again would fill some of that hole inside of him. He followed the sound, not knowing where it would lead him, his mind blocked to anything but feeling his blade slide into a soft body. It didn't occur to him that this feeling could not be natural, or that he was walking into a situation he knew nothing of.

He just needed to be there.

It took him little time to find the fight, standing a short way off to assess the battle, who was winning, who was losing... not that it mattered to him. He would take them all.

Zack's voice just barley registered with the brute, but as Loz had never heard the voice before all he did was curl tighter around the object. When he felt the first touch he recoiled away, not sure how but it seemed he curled up into a tighter position, legs almost to his chest. All he could think of was keeping his package safe till... till when he was not sure, but he would know when it happened.

It was Yazoo's voice that broke into his head and made his eye's open. His voice, not used in so long, broke as he spoke for the first time "br-brother?" it took his eyes a moment to focus as his head turned his head and saw Yazoo shooting at something. Loz had to smile seeing his brother in arms, "Yaz-oo is it really you?" not that anyone else would look like the brother that he was always closest to. It did not matter how much they teased each other (or mostly Yazoo picking on Loz...) they were close, they always fought as one, and always would.

"Its... its for you" Loz said as he opened his arms, slowly as a stiffness had infected in his arms. There, amongst his limbs was Satin Night-terror. Yazoo's second gun. the one that was always on Loz's hip for when they fought together. The last gun that Yazoo touched as they fought to the bitter end.

After reveling the gun in his arms it was then Loz took his eyes off of Yazoo and got their soundings. the battle that was going on around them. he was confused, and getting angry that his reunion was being spoiled. there was nothing Loz liked better then to kill when he was mad, if only he still had duel hound. But no, that was lost to him as Yazoo lost Velvet Nightmare... No matter Loz would do what he always did... fight with his hands and legs.

Yazoo almost smiled when he saw his other gun. "My terror.." he whispered then nodded. "Thank you for keeping her safe, brother." He picked up the weapon and stood up slowly, remembering the feel of her weight. "Help us, our big brothers are here to fight with us."

He offered a hand to Loz, not caring or thinking anyway wrong with his brother being naked, they were made from Seph after all and had nothing to be ashamed of in any department.

Genesis looked up as he heard the voice in his head, he lowered his sword and looked around. "Mother?"

He felt the warm pressure against his back and Sephiroth's gaze flickered to him for a moment. He was certain Genesis had been told to aid Zack and leave the bulk to Cloud and himself.

"Genesis, you are meant to be aiding the others," he said as Masamune was brought up into a guard position. "Why are you here?"

The soldiers continued to come and this was hardly a time to do this with Genesis. There were plenty of battles ahead and he stepped forward only to hear the whispered word. "What did you say?" He said as his gaze flickered back towards Genesis.

"I was trying to help you Seph," Genesis said with a slight smirk. Sephiroth... he was the son who made mother cry. He had to take care of him.

He smiled, "Don't worry about it Seph."

Denzel practically stumbled as he felt Zack pull him closer and turned around. The lifestream had gathered and Denzel had to supress a shudder. He knew Geostigma wasn't the lifestream's doing but the people had been fed that fear. Now seeing it it was just a constant reminder of what he escaped and so many others didn't.

The person that he saw on the ground was even more of a reminder. He remembered him too well, from the ancient city when he lost control of his mind. He took a step back as his eyes lingered on Loz and moved away as quickly as he could as soon as Zack released the magic.

Kadaj could only see one side of the fight, his eyes narrowing as he recognised them as Deepground. He now didn't care who the side opposing him were, Souba unsheathed and his feet guiding him to the first soldier, the blades slicing through him easily.

He reeled around to the next, the cloak whipping around in an impressive display as the blades once again claimed a victim. He paused, green eyes glowering from under the hood, his chest heaving as he realised it didn't change the way he felt at all. With a feral growl he launched himself back into the attack, aching to feel something, anything as he tore through the bodies.

Sephiroth's gaze flickered to Genesis for a moment and then turned away from him. It was hardly worth arguing over it. If he sent the other back he was certain to get an argument that Zack did not need his help or quote some useless verse at him.

"Fine, but remain out of the way," he said as he turned away from Genesis and moved against the soldiers. He heard something, the sound of a sword, and he was certain it was not Genesis, no the sound was different, and it was too light to be either Cloud or Zack.

Masamune sliced across bodies, more falling to the ground. A flash of light from a sword, a flash of silver, and a distinct knowledge that it was most certainly not Yazoo.

Guest

The need to destroy any who seek to harm his friends, blocking out any outside distactions, he cleaves a swath through the endlees waves of bodies.

Bloodnrunning down his rightarm, he spins to dodge another barrage of swords. Using the momentum from the spin he clears a small space and unleashes withb thundaga at the oncoming mobs.

Having lost track of everyone else he continues to hack and blast away the Deepground army.

"I have no intention of getting infected, Sir." Tseng said as he reloaded his gun. "Though if Reno turns against us I might have to fight you for the pleasure of killing him." There was a little hint of a smirk towards Rufus as the TURK returned to his position and fired a few more down.

"They seem to be lessening." He stated after awhile longer and took a hesitant and careful step into the hallway. Well trained eyes looked around the hallway and nodded towards one direction. "I believe they are coming from down there, Sir." He stated.

"Love you too, boss," Reno chuckled, aiming and shooting the next infected person to venture into the hallway. He still didn't like the idea of venturing in, but it seemed that those who would try to escape were down and it now remained to flush out the nests and continue their work.

He went to the stairwell and retrieved the spare ammunition that Rufus has mentioned, running back into the hallway and handing half of it to Tseng.

"Always check the ceiling," he muttered to himself, remembering the few games when they'd managed to crawl up the wall and attack him from above.

"Check the ceiling, what on Gaia would we need to check the ceiling-" Rufus began, then saw it on the ceiling. "For...?"
He pointed the shot gun at the pulsating cocoon and fired.

It fell to the ground with a slop. The thick purple ooze leaked onto the floor.
The deformed head was staring at them from behind the thin layer of film, unmoving.
"Disgusting. If this is what Jenova has done to ShinRa head quarters in Midgar I will not be happy."

Rufus stepped over the corpses lining the hallway Tseng and Reno close.
The missing ShinRa file was still on his mind, he was still irritated that they been side tracked from locating it.
Dragged into the infected zone of the WRO, walking through the hallways of what looked like a backdrop for one of Reno's horror video games.
This was not what he pictured when Reeve had announced ShinRa and the WRO would be merging for the sake of the planet and new events.
That sort of merger usually entailed, new office, different work hours, new employees... not... this.

Rufus' perfectly pressed white suit was now mixed with stains of black, purple and red, all different forms of blood from these infected... things.
He let out a controlled breath. He could worry about his image after they cleared the nests from this area.

There was a low screeching sound and the noise of scuttling above them. Rufus looked up his eyes going flat.
If Reno managed to pull them out of this unscathed. Rufus would almost consider on reimbursing him.
Just for the amount of pay's Rufus had docked for misconduct in the past.
It was a thought, he didn't say it. He thought it and that's where it was going to stay.
At least until they got out alive. He didn't need Reno to suddenly go gung-ho on them.

"Tseng... are you able to bring up the blueprint of this building on your phone?" He asked.
"I want to know all the locations of every single vent and emergency exit in this area. We don't need any surprises."

Zack was glad that Yazoo could have a happy moment with his brother. He just wasn't expecting for brother to help them fight... naked.
He pinched the bridge of his nose.
Zack would keep Denzel away from them for now.
Genesis had gone, vanished behind Sephiroth. There was no surprise there.
Zack had now lost all sight of Cloud, but at least he could still hear the tell-tale sign of Cloud's sword.

"What next?" He let out a breath.
It was then not to far away he could see the hooded figure hacking through the DeepGround Soldiers.
"Well why not." He shrugged.
People he didn't know joining the fight, so long as they were on their side he didn't care at that moment.
He looked at Denzel and smiled comfortingly.
"Hey I'll watch your back, and you watch mine." He spun the sword round moving back to back with Denzel.
Slamming it into the ground sending another vital slash towards the charging soldier's knocking them all off their feet.

Denzel turned towards Zack and smiled as he nodded, not able or willing to spare the breath to talk. He shoved the materia in his pocket to keep it safe as the staff was brought around the next soldier's head. It was getting harder to keep it up but he knew that he couldn't take a break in battle. If he did he'd be dead. After he could deal with the heavy breathing and the pounding of his heart.

He hadn't been bothering to keep count on how many it was, another finally falling as Denzel turned to be met with even more. There was no end to them and he wondered briefly if Deepground would ever run out of troops.

Kadaj's hand fisted into the shirt of one of the men, spinning him to face the Remnant before plunging the blade in with the hope that watching his life drain would inspire something inside of him... anything...

As the man fell lifeless, his blood streaming over Kadaj's hands.... he felt nothing. A cry of rage tore from him and he pulled Souba back, his foot colliding with the corpse to move it off faster.

His eyes flashed up as something caught the light. Silver hair... Long, much longer than Yazoo's. There was a sudden stirring in his chest, the grip on his sword tightening as he set his eyes on the goal, blades dispatching anyone who got between him and Sephiroth.

His swung his blade around and bought it crashing against the Masamune, his fingers still twitching with the memory if it being in the hands of his possessed form.

"Hello... brother," he purred, a smirk identical to that of the ex-General's twisting his lips.

"Kadaj."

He was there, the first one he had created, the one he had used to become complete. Masamune stopped for a moment, the two crossed. Masamune was held with ease in a guard position held across his body. It certainly was him, seeming to be alive now just as Yazoo. Now was not the time for this, not when the enemies continued to gather.

"Kadaj, aid us," he said as he jerked his head to motion towards the battle.

Kadaj's hold didn't waver but his resolve faltered for a moment. He didn't know what he was doing with blade pressed against Seph's - was he there to join him or fight against him? He couldn't let go that Mother had preferred him, and had probably abandoned him for the favoured son and that was why She was silent in his head. That pang worsened, a bloodied hand grasping his chest as his eyes glowered more.

"Why should I?" he growled, pushing him away with a forceful shove, blade flicking down and do his side. He tore off the cloak, letting it fall where it would amongst the dead. "You created me, used me and then left me to die! Why should I consider helping the single person who controlled and destroyed me life?"

He had created him. Made him to wander the world, a body that would become one with Jenova so that he could return, all for the sake of seeking vengeance upon Cloud. Destroyed his life? No, Kadaj did not exist before he created him. He had no life before he was created for that sole purpose. Created to only be used, so much like himself.

Slowly Sephiroth drew Masamune back however he knew that Kadaj could not be trusted completely. He was lost however, that much he understood, had been there himself to realize he had been created only for a purpose.

"Because if we fight now you will be able to craft a life of your own."

"What life could I possibly have?" He spat, not even looking as the blade shifted in his grip and plunged into the Deepground soldier that came at him from behind. "I'm hollow, empty - incomplete. What life is there for someone who feels nothing at all?"

Genesis' eyes glinted, he nodded to Sephiroth. "I'll go back to the other side," he told him.

A glint of fire materia grew in Genesis' hand and his eyes glinted dangerously as he threw the flame at one of the men.

"A there you are, my son,"

The voice continued to run through Genesis' head and he knew right away that it was in fact moth-- no, Jenova, she was Jenova not mother. Genesis hurled the flaming materia in his hand at one of the men, letting him burst into flames, and then plunged his Rapier into his heart nearing hunger at the sight of the blood of the now dead body.

Genesis licked his lips at the sight of the blood, this was the same rush that first joining SOLDIER had once given him. He dusted off his red leather coat and then glanced icily at the other groups of DeepGround's soldiers.

Yazoo spun from where he had help Loz to stand and looked towards big brother Seph. "I recognize that voice..." he said, eyes narrowing at the hooded figure who dared to cross swords with Seph. "K-Kadaj?! He called out from where he was standing with Loz across the other side of the room.

Powerful legs flipping up Loz so that he could join in the fray. It was in mid-flip that Yazoo called to their youngest brother. His head snapped to see Kadaj with his own eyes. "BROTHER!" he called out, the rage slipping away into ultimate glee. Tears sprung to his eyes as he grabbed Yazoo in his arms and ran, ran as fast as his hulking legs could carry him.

Loz was always the fastest of the three brothers, Kadaj was slower only by a smige. but something spurred him on faster then normal. Before anyone could say or do anything Loz was past Sephiroth and grabbed Kadaj as well. Holding his younger brothers in a giant bear hug and pushing all three of their faces together Loz turned in circles. Loz momentary forgot about the battle going on, forgot about everything but that fact that his family, his brothers were back with him. All he needed was here in his arms, he squeezed them just a bit to tight, just to feel his brothers against his skin to know they are really there.

Zack blinked as the naked remnant took off.
Zack shook his head. He didn't want to know or see for that matter.

The buster sword moving through several more bodies.
He activated the stun materia hitting the enemies that came near before he sliced through them.
It felt like the lead up to his death over Midgar all over again.
He had help, even though some of them tended to be suffering some ADD at that moment.

"Damnit. What are these guys robots or copies." He could fell his arm starting to hurt just a bit and he activated the curaga healing Denzel first them himself.
Hoping to give them just enough strength to get through the ongoing wave.
But Zack could see it, their section was nearly cleared of soliders.
There was an end, he just wasn't sure about the other side.

Denzel felt the sudden energy fill him and he blinked for a moment. All the pain from exhaustion and near hits were gone, his strength having returned to much as it was at the beginning of the battle. Throughout the battle his movements had become smoother as he quickly learned what worked and what didn't. He quickly pulled a hand back as he felt some of the bullets hit against his weapon and it was forced against his chest until he jumped forward, the staff slamming down against the soldier's head, repeated attacks hitting again.

He fell and another shot, Denzel leaping forward. The staff smashed against the other multiple times, the metal denting under the effort.

Zack had told him to watch his back and that was just what he was going to do. The more he fat the more used to it he became, avoiding more bullets, able to hit harder and more precise as he picked up certain things and now with his energy back he knew he was doing better.

They had to stop someday, even if he didn't feel the aches and pains Denzel knew he wouldn't be able to fight extremely long.

Another leapt and the staff caught him around the back of the knees, the man striking the ground. The staff slammed down and he could hear a crack of the man's spine, a frightening sound but he had heard it before in this fight. At first he had been shocked that his senses had seemed to become so much better but it didn't matter now. He knew that it was what made it so he could fight.
