Kadaj's head slowly rose and his eyes opened, the usual vibrant green the more milky colour of the lifestream, glowing faintly.

"Please..." The voice was softer, more feminine, but also sounded like many voices coming together to speak as one. "This is the only way, and we do not wish to harm or control the boy. We wanted another way, but no other choice has been given to us."

He took a hesitant step forward, his hand resting atop the hand that gripped his arm. "We know you distrust us because of Weiss, but we did not intend for what came to pass. We tried to leave him but he was too determined to be in control and we could not escape. Please, the boy will be safe, he will be the primary conciousness. After this we will only speak when he permits it - but we come to you for help."

Denzel panted lightly as he let himself rest in Cloud's arms. He didn't fight it again, didn't even protest that he could walk. He forced himself to still as his head rested against Cloud's chest. He didn't feel up to walking even and no matter how much he didn't want to be carried around like a child he couldn't even focus.

Even now his body was burning up and he really just wanted something cold. His breath rasped as he breathed shallowly in an attempt to catch his breath.

He would be alright, he was certain he would, but the fever, it was worse than anything he had suffered when he had geostigma.

Sephiroth's attention remained on him as the hand reached over and touched his hand. The blade was moved aside as he remained unblinking. He could not send the lifestream out of him, could not harm it. All he could do was believe it that Kadaj would not be harmed. His gaze flickered away as he drew back.

"Do as you must then," he said before his gaze flickered back towards Kadaj. "If he accepts you I have no say in what his future is."

But he would not allow harm to come to him if it was in his power. Too much had been destroyed already and to be the slave to another was no better than becoming a slave to ShinRa. "Do not bring any harm to him."

There was a faint smile as he reached out a hand and gently touched Sephiroth's cheek, his head tilted slightly to one side.

"We will not harm the Kadaj. We also cannot heal what has been done. Even with re-absorption of the soul fragment he will not be the person he was before. We cannot say we are sorry for this." The smile flickered brighter. "He says that he is not sorry for it either - he heard you and the Angeal speaking, and while we are within him the Kadaj has our knowledge of what has passed."

Kadaj drew back from Sephiroth and moved to the window, looking out of it with a sad sigh. "We are dying. In ejecting the Sephiroth and his shadows we were able to regain enough of our strength to also take the Jenova from within us." He looked over his shoulder to the General. "The poison you released within us was unable to be purged, though, it had spread too far and too deep. It is with your own creation that Nero twists us to his dark purposes."

Sephiroth pulled quickly away as the fingers touched his face. So few touched him, and only Zack did with tenderness such as that. Kadaj would never be the same, that was in a way a relief. He pulled fully away from Kadaj and the lifestream as his gaze flickered away from him. He moved towards the bed once more.

The truth was one he knew well. He was the reason for this and now Nero used his own power against them.

"And what do you seek, penance?"

This was brought about by his crimes, and when it came to it that was why he had to fight. If this battle called for a life it was be his, perhaps that was what was required to free him from this. No matter how Zack may try to change it he could not free him from this.

"We seek you to forgive," came the soft reply, glowing eyes turning to him. "You were pained by that which we could not stop, your rebellion is understood and forgiven for the blame is ours. We exist to protect the life born of us, and we have failed."

He turned to the window again, his hand gently pressed to the cool glass of the window. "We have tried to save all we can, placed them on the surface as they lived once. Safe from the darkness for a short time, but no longer. The darkness reaches everywhere, so powerful it is." His head dropped with a soft sigh. "We breathed life to save all life, and now we have done nothing but give more fuel to death."

He turned suddenly, eyes imploring Sephiroth to listen. "If Nero is not stopped, we die. And when we die, the planet dies. Omega is not coming. Our hope is in man, and man has saved us before." He looked sad as he moved to the bed, sitting on the edge. "We hope that man can again. We are too weak to save anyone."

Rebellion? That was a new way to put his actions when most would likely term it as an act of evil. While the planet could perhaps be forgiven there were others that never could. ShinRa who supported this, the man he shared blood with that created him to be this, even in the back of his mind he accused Gast who left when he was young. The only form of care for a child and he was gone so easily never to tell him the truth.

The green eyes locked on him the color of the lifestream met the green of the Jenova cells that once ran rampant through his form. They pleaded with him, perhaps to do what he already struggled to accomplish.

And there Kadaj... or the lifestream plead with him. "You are talking to the wrong one, all I am is a master of death."

Hero... he was claimed as such for only one reason, for his actions in Wutai. He was a hero for the amount he murdered, nothing else. His gaze flickered away from Kadaj as he stood and the silver hair fell around him. "I will continue to do as I can however I seek one thing, one thing only you can grant me."

Meanwhile, in the remains of Reeve's office...

It seemed to take days to pick up the entirety of his office; Reeve was used to everything being in its place - it's how he always found something - but this latest disaster had thrown all that into disarray. What didn't help especially was that he had to do all this in the dark... but at last it was done. He blinked and looked up suddenly as light flooded the room - the electricity was back up and running. "At last!" he grinned. "Power must be back on, that's a relief."
Picking up the last book from the floor, he went over and placed it on its usual shelf before taking up his phone. "Might call Rufus and give him the good news, I guess." Dialing the appropriate number for the ShinRa President, he stood and listened to it ring a few times before he got an answer. "Hello? Rufus, good to hear your voice. I've got some good news for you - thought you might like to know we've got the power back up here at the WRO, and the cleanup seems to be progressing nicely."

The disconnect button was pressed as Kunsel sighed and stared down at the phone for a moment. There was a limited amount that he could do from here and had even spoken to the local WRO forces. He needed to get back to the trace however he was divided between that and finding a way to Kalm himself. Rumors had been discovered to be true but it wasn't enough. He needed more on the locals if the lifestream was headed that way.

He paused for a moment as his phone beeped again and he flipped it open. Reports of a bright light... it held a sense of forboding that he couldn't brush away and in an instant the ex-SOLDIER was down the hall again towards the offices.

He didn't even bother to knock as he reached down and grabbed the chair the red head was sitting in and yanked it back. "I need your computer again and everything you've got on Kalm and the Lifestream."

Loz was moving his way through the city crowds when a light flew past. While others passed by and didn't seem to notice the bright speck flitter though them Loz did, and his eyes narrowed. He was unsure what the light was but something told him to follow it.

Though the short haired man could not move as fast as it without attracting to much unwanted attention (which he was already getting from the blasted bird) he moved. His eyes caught the light push into a building and Loz walked looking it over. What was so special about that place? His eyes took in the first floor. He noted it was an Inn of some kind but nothing that he could see.

There was movement in one of the windows and his eyes looked up and he stopped. Blinking his eyes he looked again. It was his youngest brother, it was Kadaj. But how? Kadaj was dead! If his brother was alive he would feel it, feel that pulse that he had with him since his coming to life. The same way he could feel Yazoo right now.

Fighters intuition was the only thing keeping him from running up into that building and banging down every door till he found Kadaj. He could not prove it was his brother, and had to be sure of things before he confronted this one who looked like his youngest brother.

Loz moved to a bench nearby and sat down, this his eyes kept glancing up into the inn room. It seemed this wannbe-Kadaj was talking to someone, someone else in the room with him.

If only Yazoo was here.... He'd know what to do. Los didn’t realize that he was projecting his thoughts in a way he hadn’t for a long time. A way he forgot he could do and talk to the only other brother who could still hear him.

Rufus nodded at Cissnei. "Dark Nation can be like that."
In truth he was grateful for Dark Nation's resurrection.
Out of everyone, Dark Nation was the one he had wanted to see the most.
The hound had been a friend when he had been denied them as a teenager.

They reached the medical ward as Cissnei explained that she brought Yazoo here.
Rufus pushed the door open and he looked inside to the empty bed.
A brow quirked up. "I think we need to surgically implant tracking devices on these remnants."
He pinched the bridge of his nose.

When his phone rang he looked at Cissnei. "I don't blame you for this you're only one person."
He looked at the caller ID and smirked. "It's Reeve. Give me a moment."
He flipped the phone open and answered.
"Reeve..."

Rufus listened to the report Reeve gave on the other end. The WRO had their power and basic utilities up and going.
It seemed Cid had ignored the meeting due to the fact his ship was destroyed, so he was working on it.
And Cid was still working on the air ship, day in and day out.
Mixed among his colorful cursing at Reeve for letting his baby get hurt and running out of tea and smokes.
But at least the two survived the attack of Jenova and her clones on the building.

Reeve finished the update that even though the WRO was missing a big chunk of it's top and side.
The areas had been cornered off for repairs. With some extra manpower they were getting it done.
Eventually everyone would be able to be moved back to the WRO.
That was good news in Rufus's books because Healin would not withstand another attack.

Flipping the phone shut after the call he looked at Cissnei. "WRO has their basic utilities and power back."
It was probably the better news he'd heard all day. He looked to the empty room.
Rufus didn't really wanna play chase the remnants for the rest of the afternoon.
But there wasn't much else he could do except check up on the repairs.

Zack picked up Dark Nation and he looked at Rufus' hound with a raised brow.
"Whatever you do dog don't bite me as I'm flying you above a city."
He walked outside with Dark Nation in his arms and he let his wings flick out.
He hoped he could fly like this carrying a dog with the buster sword and duffel bag.
"I feel like a pack mule." He mumbled looking round for Cloud.
It was time they were gone.

Cloud twitched at the sight of Zack's wing. It was clear on his face that he didn't like the thing: it was a symbol of Jenova. He shook his head, and moved Denzel onto the bike. How the hell was he going to do this?

"Denzel, I need you to wake up. Please?" He looked at his bike and frowned, deciding he would have to do an unsafe decision. Instead of sitting on the bike with the brunet behind him, he put the brunet between his knees and shook his head. "Tifa will kill me." He started up the engine and looked at Zack, shuddering at the wing on his best friend.

A part of him just wanted to scream at it and rip it off, but it wasn't like that would do anything (besides make Zack most likely die from blood loss). "Let's go." He started Fenrir up slow, not wanting to go fast until he had a grip, and he knew how fast Zack was flying to match his speed.

Denzel groaned as he tried to focus but for the moment nothing made sense at all. "I'm awake..." he managed to murmur as he leaned heavily against the handles. He drew in a slow breath and leaned back against Cloud's chest, the added body heat enough to make him feel like he was burning up. Slowly he moved in order to get into a better position.

He managed a nod and focused his eyes forward as best he could manage. A part of him just wanted to sink against Cloud, his head spinning. Eyes shut for a moment before he forced himself to focus once again.

"I'm okay," even if he wasn't he wanted to tell Cloud he was. He didn't want him to treat him so gently when it was his choice.

Zack took off to the air quickly letting the wings flap til he found the right wind current to use.
He glided above the bike looking down on Denzel and Cloud.
It was actually quite adorable in his own mind to see Cloud like this.
"Cute huh?" He looked at Dark Nation.
Though he wasn't sure if Dark Nation was paying attention or doing a dog thing with the oncoming breeze.

Once Zack got the right speed to glide ahead at, he pushed forward just that little bit more.
He dropped low enough for Cloud to see the base speed he could travel at.
The sooner they got to the church the better, the sooner they could help Denzel and Aerith.
Hopefully they could get to Aerith in time.

He forced himself not to think as he sped up. He matched Zack speed, and when Denzel said he was okay, he felt the weight on his heart and mind lift a little. He sped up and whispered, "Hold on."

Instantly Denzel tried to focus on that. Hold on? Hold on to what? He knew how to ride when behind Cloud however that wasn't really anything to hold on to in front other than the handles. He moved slightly to lean against it in order to find someplace to grip that wouldn't result in burned hands.

Finally he settled on grabbing at the handles and pressing forward enough to given Cloud room. His head dropped forward as he drew in a harsh breath and tried to focuse. His vision blurred slightly before it straightened out once again.

The wind that pulled at the brown hair was the only saving grace for his feverish body between the heat of the motorcycle and the heat of Cloud's body behind him.

Zack kept an eye up ahead of him and one below watching Cloud and Denzel.
Denzel, he had spent it felt like a lifetime since his revival watching the kid.
But he knew just by looking down that Cloud was just right for Denzel.
Denzel was just as good for Cloud, they were balanced similar like an actual family.

It made him smile just that little bit more. Despite the circumstances.
He looked ahead from this high up he could see Midgar, but it was still only a dot away.
It was times like this Cid and his damn airship would have come in handy.
They had Jenova to thank for that though.

Midgar, ShinRa HQ he hoped it had all be reversed from the infection.
He could still feel her infection lingering in Midgar and he looked down at Dark Nation.
"Don't bite me okay I'm just taking a peek for our safety."
He let his mind wander to see if he could locate her top side.

It was silent, he could feel her beneath the ground as if she was slowly consuming the planet.
Zack pulled back quickly before he got sucked into those weird emotions.
He knew they were bad, but it was just as warm, inviting.
There was no Seph near by to slap him one and tell him off for even going there.

"I can see Midgar from here Cloudy!" He called down. "How fast can you go on that thing?"

Yazoo slipped down the hallways silently, doing hid best to avoid being seen as he stepped out the front door of the building. "Just getting some fresh air. Going to stretch my legs a bit." He said to the guard who questioned why he was outside and where he was going.

He walked off down the path and towards the mountain area with a sigh. Idiot.

If only Yazoo was here.... He'd know what to do.

The thought hit him hard and he stopped, bracing himself against a nearby rock. That voice, he never thought he would hear that voice again!
Loz! Loz where are you?! He projected out, reaching for his last remaining brother and trying to sense what direction it was coming from as he started to walk blindly.

Cissnei mentally face palmed when they saw that Yazoo was also missing now. "I'm sorry, sir. He was unconscious when I left him here and I did tell them to keep a close eye on him." She shook her head, security was very lax lately and it all seemed to be coming back to her. I'm only one Turk and they expect me to guard everyone on my own? How is that fair?!

She folded her arms with a sigh and waited while Rufus talked on his phone, overhearing only parts of the conversation. "It's good to hear they have power back. Did Reeve mention if many of them survived?" She asked, more concerned for some of the personnel than others.

Rufus nodded at her. "He gave me that they did loose about a hundred men, that was mostly in the collapse of the levels."
He checked his watch looking in the empty room. "Several sever injuries but the rest were accounted for."
Rufus turned round and he looked at her. "We should walk the grounds see if we can't spot this Remant."
He didn't blame her at all. She was human like the rest of them.
This was why he preferred to have at least two on active duty at a time.

"Also I want to see how the clean up is going. If the pace at the WRO keeps up, we might be able to return there."
Healin was not big enough to store an army not the size of the one he had in mind of creating.
Still the move would be slow and it would have to wait for now. He would move the army eventually.
But that was only if Reeve fortified the WRO building more to prevent anymore Jenova Deep Ground based attacks.

He glanced up and a childish side of him called out, "It'll go faster than that one wing can take you, bird-boy." He of course knew that now was not a place for teasing, but still.... Zack always did bring out the worst in him, in a fun way.

Zack let out a chuckle at Cloud. Little did he know.
"I have two ya know!"
Of course it was hard to have both of them out when he had the buster sword and a duffel bag strapped to his back.
But regardless he picked the right air current to hook into and flew forward ashed of cloud and looked back at him grinning.
It was almost like old times save he was flying above and not racing Cloud on the ground.
When this was over he'd like to do that sometime him and cloud have a good enjoyable motor bike race.

"Can you keep up?" He shouted as he roared the engine louder, speeding up as they were nearing Midgar. He looked down to check up on Denzel and he smiled. It felt good knowing the brunet was both with him and safe. Of course, after the mako treatments, he was sick as could be, but he hoped the brunet would be better by the time they got to the church.

First thing's first, though. We have to save Aerith.

"Of course I can!" Zack shouted and he finally let the second wing manifest.
It gave a little bump in the air current, one he was sure Dark Nation wouldn't like.
But he was able to gather more speed as he let the wings move.
He was right above Cloud and he could see Midgar closer.

At least they were making it in decent time. If it was anyone else they wouldn't have even been half way.
It was a decent visual and from here Zack could see it was missing the ShinRa tower completely.
'Place looks like it's dying' He thought grimly.
But the water in that church it was linked to Aerith. Perhaps they could use that to save her.
