It hadn't taken much guesswork from Denzel's earlier words and his body language that he didn't like him, and from that it had been easy to figure that he had wronged him in some way. He knew that an apology wasn't going to make it right - they rarely did, something in the back of his mind told him - but it was better than leaving his past self's deeds un-repented.

It confused him that the apology was seemingly taken on board when he was told the way out - if he had wanted to spite him it would have been so easy to lead him astray.

Perhaps I expect too little of people.

"Thank you," he nodded, opening the door and stepping into the hallway, looking back at Denzel with a guilty pang for leaving the young teen behind in a place he felt was dangerous. He pulled the door closed in an attempt to stop this new feeling from overwhelming him and turned to continue down the hall, hoping that his new found faith in people wasn't about to be shattered.

Once Kadaj was gone Denzel collapsed back onto the bed. Even that little bit of movement had exhausted him. He couldn't clear his head, everything seeming uneven. He tried to focus but everything was still too loud and Denzel let himself collapse back onto the bed as a groan escaped. His stomach twisted as a groan escaped. It had taken all his strength to get dressed and act like he was fine.

Short gasps were taken and Denzel leaned back against the bed.

He was miserable and he stumbled into the bathroom again.

The way out was as simple as Denzel had explained it to be, but it was at least in the same direction as he was told to go. The main room seemed familiar for a fleeting moment, but most of the rooms were similar - if not identical - and the feeling was ignored as he wrenched the door open and stepped outside.

Tentative steps were taken away from the building, looking out at the steep, winding road as the wind whipped around him. He hadn't planned for there to be nowhere to go, and nowhere was exactly where he was stood. There was a road but he didn't know where it led, and apart from that was only cliff faces, waterfalls and trees.

It was beautiful... but it was a prison nonetheless.

Tentatively he took a step forward, and then another, slowly and carefully moving down the road, the warm tarmac beneath his feet. He didn't know where he was going, or what he was doing - just that he needed to be away from the building, from the people watching him.

"My patience is wearing thin these days, Reno." Tseng said with a sigh, tilting his head slightly when Reno kissed his neck. "I suppose that it is everything that has been happening all coming together at once." He shook his head and leant back in the chair, back against Reno. "I don't think this is the right time nor place for your preferred methods of reminder, so let's just keep focused on this mission and get out of here as soon as we can, ok?"

He pulled away from Reno and stood up. "Sleep first, then Sephiroth and I will return to the sword master to see what has been accomplished in this time. Hopefully we will not be in Wutai too long." He said, walking off to the room he shared with the General.

Cissnei sighed and shook her head. "You're going to be the death of me, pup." She laughed and chased after him, chasing the hound down the corridors and hallways, trying to catch him. "The President is so going to hurt both of us if you ruin his coat!"

She didn't even notice Kadaj slip out of the room, so intent she was on Dark Nation.. that and she believed the boy to be sleeping.

Rufus let out a breath. He had no idea what had gotten into Dark Nation but at least he wasn't chasing him around.
He would have to let Dark Nation outside soon to run around. But only once they had retrieved his coat.

For now though he just took some food and a pitcher of water into Denzel's room.
He looked to Denzel in bed and he set the food and water on the bedside table.

"They should be on their way back tomorrow or the day after next."
Rufus hoped it was enough time for the mako and Denzel to be properly infused.
The longer Sephiroth and Zack were away the more he could increase Denzel's mako exposure.
At least to the point where he was definitely on par with the normal military if not at least more improved.

Zack heard the footsteps in the hallway and he looked at Sephiroth.
"Well I better let you get some rest." He slipped up to the door and looked back at Sephiroth.
"Sleep well Seph, see ya tomorrow." Zack opened the door and he looked to Tseng.
He nodded his head at Tseng. "Til Tomorrow Tseng."

[Thought I better move Zack away for a bit in case irl sucks me away for another week or more]

Reno gave a soft chuckle. "Spoil sport," he teased lightly, stepping back and slipping his hands into his pocket as force of habit. "Nah, I don't think we should make a habit of doing that in Wutai - otherwise I might never get laid when we never come back."

He smirked and followed him to the bedrooms, though he had no intention of pushing his luck. He needed to sleep, to let the day and night pass by without him having to be consciously away of it so that he could feel like they were leaving all the sooner. The banter and innuendo was only that, there was a time and a place to seriously contemplate their relationship - and it wasn't going to be in separate beds in a foreign country.

"We can only hope," he replied with a grim smile in response to the plan. "Sleep well, Tseng. I'll see if I can't manage to be up before you and put the coffee on for once."

Dark Nation paused at the doorway to the small back yard that was enclosed by the cliffs around them. It was only small but it gave him something to wander around and sniff at. No one wanted to let him out the front of the building because of the road - and bad things happened to animals on roads.

He unceremoniously opened his mouth and let the jacket fall, completely unharmed, to the ground, sitting and looking very pleased with himself. Even if his master wasn't paying attention and getting the hint, at least the woman was giving it a go.

Zack was gone, had left his room, and Sephiroth could hear the words to Tseng. With that he had carefully removed the wig, shirt, and boots and shifted onto the bed. The sheet was pulled up to his waist and shifted, his back to the door. He could hear the steps clearly outside the door and waited. So many things, things that he could not change and others that he had trouble accepting. He had accepted this relationship with Zack but now he remained on edge with the question of what next.

He knew what he had to do next as SOLDIER, but not in terms of Zack and how their relationship had suddenly changed in a matter of a day.

Eyes were forced shut as he desperately tried to focus on what would become of this situation. But first he needed a weapon, then he would need to first worry about Kadaj. The situation with Zack could wait.

Zack opened the door to the room he was staying in.
Another night here then tomorrow Sephiroth and Tseng could pick up that sword then they could go.
He looked to the side glancing briefly at Tseng before nodding his head and slipping into the room.
Zack shut the door and moved up to the window and he let out a breath looking out at the night.
His nerves were shot and he was completely lost and frustrated at this time.
Missions meant going out there and doing stuff. Not left sitting under guard waiting.
Zack pulled his shirt off tossing it over the back of a chair and taking his boots off he flopped onto his back on the bed.
His hands behind his head he lay there looking up at the ceiling, waiting for the tiredness to claim him and sleep to come.

Rufus had left some water and food in Denzel's room before he walked down the hall.
He saw his coat on the floor. Rufus let out a sigh. He picked up his jacket and shook it out.
It wasn't too badly damaged luckily. He was thankful he had trained Dark Nation well enough.
Especially when his expensive wardrobe was involved.

Rufus walked up to where Dark Nation sat and he crouched down and looked at him and held up the coat.
"I understand your bored and want to play. But it is getting late." He stated.
Rufus opened the door. "I'm going to bed you run around and do whatever I'm going to bed."
Rufus gave Dark nation a pat on the head.

Sleep did not come easily, there were concerns that had to be dealt with. He was up early, when his body could not be forced to remain still any longer. Too much had happened... Jenova, the loss of the cells, the destruction of Masamune... and now Zack. He didn't even know where to start with that. It shouldn't be something he was concerned about however. Green eyes flickered forward as Sephiroth dressed and moved in silence out of the room and down the steps.

The sword was the first thing, and then training, he would let the concerns of this newfound relationship slide until he had time to properly analyze it and come to understand just what it meant, not only for their relationship but under professional terms as well. He was the head of SOLDIER now, however Rufus had not thought to name him a second in command. That could come later, but now there were so few. With Genesis gone there was only Zack and himself.

Steps were taken forward and Sephiroth stepped outside as he stared towards the sun. He had been dead to the world too long, consumed by the need for vengeance and something greater. But now he couldn't stop. He couldn't let it settle as it was.

The events of the past day were fuzzy, his head still spinning. A groan escaped as the teen lifted himself up. His head fell forward and he reached forward to grab at his head. It would get better once he started walking around, that was what he told himself. Slowly Denzel stumbled forward and grabbed at the wall to steady himself. He breathed in and slowly let it out as the first step was taken. His head still pounded but at least he could see somewhat straight. Everthing in him was unbalanced, like it was trying to adjust to a sudden change.

It didn't take long to dress the rest of the way before he hurried out towards the kitchen. A part of him wanted to know if Zack would be back soon, it was lonely being without anyone. He could still remember when Rick had left, he had been alone.

He hated the cold loneliness, but he couldn't deal with that now. He had to be strong, even without Zack or Cloud. He was part of SOLDIER now.

Zack didn't know what woke him that morning but he was up earlier than he expected.
Of course he was down in the kitchen, to his surprise it was empty.
For a moment Zack wondered if Sephiroth and Tseng had left already.
He looked out the window and he could see Seph outside and he looked to the stairs.
Zack looked to his watch. It was still early, perhaps Tseng was just in the shower.
He shrugged it off and made a simple breakfast of toast and coffee.

The mere thought of Reno actually waking up before him long enough to get the coffee brewing made Tseng snort a little in disbelief but he inclined his head lightly to Reno and made his way to the room he shared with Sephiroth.

He didn't sleep well, he never did when surrounded by enemies and being in Wutai and in the same room as the General he was definitely surrounded.
Tseng heard Sephiroth get up and leave the room, he waited a while before getting up himself and changing for the ritualistic morning run, slipping silently outside and heading for the hills, making sure to have his handgun with him in case any monsters were stupid enough to bother him.

Reno dragged himself downstairs just as Tseng head out of the door. He shook his head with an annoyed sigh but said nothing and did nothing to go after him. It wasn't worth the hassle that would ensue from him presuming to tell his boss what he can and can't do - and at that moment in time anything to keep Tseng sane was welcome.

His gaze fell on Seph as he walked through the house to the other door, stopping and staring at him for a moment before yanking the door open and looking out.

"Oi, you might be the HMFIC but if you don't want us all caught and slaughtered you might want to get your ass inside and get your hair back on."

He didn't wait for an answer, just closing the door and going to the kitchen, muttering under his breath in Wutainese about idiot Generals who ought to know better.

Cissnei sighed when she came to a halt after chasing the hound, only to see Rufus there retrieving his coat. "I apologise, Sir. The little devil was too fast for me." She smiled fondly at Dark Nation, petting him on the head. "If he wishes to run around more I'll keep and eye on him for you." She looked down to the beast in question.

Dark Nation gave her the innocent look that only those even partially canine can manage, nuzzling up into the woman's hand as his spike thumped the ground. He couldn't help that being cooped up was boring for him and that he wanted a good long run and to chase something living and to play and be fed.

He'd probably be a lot happier if anyone ever remembered to feed him...

The glare flickered up as soon as the door opened and the annoying voice appeared. He sighed slightly as he turned back towards him. Sephiroth's glare remained on Reno and muscles tensed. Were the Turk not useful to Rufus he would certainly be dead by now. This mission could not be over soon enough when he could return to Healin and inform Rufus that he would not go anywhere with the red head ever again, assuming Rufus desired to keep him alive.

Sephiroth gave a slight growl as he turned back towards the house and the door shut. He moved into the kitchen in silence and picked up a mug. The coffee was poured as he took a sip of the hot liquid.

Worse idea...

Zack was there, along with Reno. This day could not possibly get worse.

Reno looked up at him from the kitchen table, his face expressionless. He wanted to forgive Sephiroth for what he had done, and what had been done in his image, but he couldn't help but feel that anger bubble up in him. He wasn't as poised as Tseng and able to keep it to a simmer, he wasn't as forgiving as Zack to gloss over it having ever happened.

Talking wasn't going to solve anything, that was made more and more apparent, and pretending it didn't happen also seemed to irritate the reinstated General.

"No winning," he muttered under his breath in Wutainese. He stretched and put down the mug, looking to the General again. "Tseng's checking out the town," he said in Common, only lying slightly. "Making sure it's good for you two to head out again. When do you plan to go?"

He had walked most of the night, his bare feet preferring the grassy verges until the morning dews began to form and then he moved back onto the road. He had no aim in his wanderings - he had no idea of what there was in the world to be visiting, and so for the time being had contented himself to just following the road.

Denzel had instilled in him a need to decide who he was for himself, though not much became apparent to him as he walked. He had come to the conclusion that he liked flowers (especially the blue and white ones, clustered together by the roadside) and waterfalls, that trees were often majestic and that hot tarmac was oddly titillating against the soles of his bare feet. He knew that he did not like the hem of his pants to be wet, and that regardless of how uncomfortable it was he would not be found walking the road without anything on his bottom half.

He had also discovered that he preferred the night, to be lit by the moon and stars - though the first time he heard one of the night birds call out he did nearly fall over from shock.

What surprised him was that he had no fear in walking in the middle of nowhere while he was alone - though why he had presumed that he ought to feel it he didn't understand.

Sephiroth leaned against the counter as he took a sip of the hot liquid. The sooner they were finished with this task the sooner they could return. Being without a weapon left him empty, a continued ache that seemed to plague him separated from the Masamune. Being without a weapon in general was dangerous.

There was no telling when Jenova may return, and then there was the need to protect Zack from her.

"It shouldn't take long as long as the swordsmith is prepared."

And then they could leave, they could return to Healin... where Zack was in his room every night. He had agreed to this relationship, but where to start... it was an unknown.

Reno gave a small nod of acknowledgement as he continued to nurse the hot mug between his palms. "I'll make sure we are packed and the house is free from any sign that we were here. If there's any hold up then it only means that we have to unpack for the additional stay."

He hoped to all that was good in the world that they wouldn't need to remain in Wutai for even another night. He wanted to get back to Healin, take Tseng to his bed and sleep through until morning without worrying about where anyone was, or who was out to get them.

The food hadn’t made him feel any better, his stomach didn’t hurt but his head was still spinning. Slowly Denzel lifted himself from the seat and stumbled out of the kitchen. One hand was brought up and Denzel stumbled forward for a moment before he managed to clear his head enough to focus. He took a shaky breath as his head cleared.

Okay… he could make it.

Denzel took a sharp breath as he moved slowly towards the hallway in search of some sort of training room. Maybe training would help him out, because lying in bed wasn’t doing it. He couldn’t still be sick when Zack got back.

He would show him just how strong he had gotten, if he could actually stay standing. Lately that hadn’t exactly been common. Every time he seemed to get well enough to do something then he had another treatment. But he was doing this to become stronger. He had to be SOLDIER. Feet skidded slightly as Denzel stopped dead suddenly.

There in the middle of the hallway was Rufus, the red-headed Turk, and an animal. Denzel blinked for a moment as he moved quietly forward. If Rufus saw him up he might just be getting another treatment. He wanted to be strong, but a part of him wasn’t quite sure how much more pain he could handle for a little while.

Dark Nation's ears pricked as he heard the irregular steps, his head tilting slightly as he looked towards where they were coming from. Something about how the boy stopped and moved slowly and quietly made him realise that the boy didn't want to be seen - he knew the walk from when Rufus would sneak about with him when they were young, when he was sent to distract the big humans from seeing him.

He turned towards the door, making it seem as though he heard something outside. He rubbed against it with a purr and a soft yip, claws scratching at the door in case they had not gotten the hint.

He wasn't going to let them see the boy - he knew that it was his job to distract.
