Final Fantasy Main Story RP ARC IV

It didn't take long for Reno to finish in the shower, eyeing the clothes in his locker and grabbing the clean suit - if he went out in casual clothes it would be guaranteed that he would be required to work again.. and he had a feeling Rufus was just as annoyed by his TURKs turning up in sweatpants and a vest as Tseng was.

He decided to swing by Tseng's office and receive his tongue lashing, get it over and done with so that they could both get on with their day, but as he passed Rufus' office he hesitated, going back a few steps and knocking on the door.

Reno opened the door with a small smile at Rufus knowing who it was, looking to Dark Nation's lolling figure. "I think it's just because he expects me to give him a tummy rub when I walk in," he mused, contemplating the creature's behaviour, which like Rufus he knew was different towards each person at the door - he'd hound-sat often enough to pick it all up.

He paused, remembering his manners and standing up a little straighter. "I'm sorry sir, I hope I'm not interrupting anything?"

Refusing the hound was like refusing Rufus, and so he knelt beside Dark Nation and rubbed his stomach. "Why would a security guard for the WRO want to take it in the first place?" He queried. "It makes little sense, if you pardon me saying, sir."

He straightened up again and looked at the President. He wasn't the most easy person to be comfortable around, and despite their being the same age he had little in common with the man he'd termed "spoilt little rich brat" the second he'd met him. Heck, he rarely would use his name and just refer to him as "blondie" - something that even Tseng had given up trying to break him of.

"If the WRO has been breeched - then we're in deep shit," he said bluntly. "We should probably think about moving somewhere more remote - where we can be sure that it is secure to our standards. Security here makes me look proficient."

The depreciating humour was also something no one had broken him of, yet.

Reno could feel his body tense and freeze into position, his eyes locked on the file. Part of him wondered what it said about him - most of him wanted nothing more than to see the file go up in flames.

"I never went to high school," he found himself muttering. His eyes finally moved to Rufus'. "Seeing as it's a file of the truth... how many did I get credited for with Sector 7? I've always wondered."

He felt faint and nauseous, wishing he was still crouched next to Dark Nation - the floor at least was a lot closer then. "Gods..." he murmured, unable to do much else.

Reno wasn't sure what to make of Rufus' offer. "I don't know," he admitted. "Do I want to know that much? About myself... you... Tseng..? Tseng would kill me if you showed me and not him." He gave a soft chuckle as he imagined the look on Tseng's face. "And you know that even if you ordered me to only look at my own section that I'd look at the rest - there's no point in my lying to you." He gestured to the file. "You after all have my every bad habit in black and white."

"I know," Reno replied with a small smile. In the past he wouldn't have trusted any of the Shinra family as far as he could throw them but things changed, and now he
knew that Rufus needed them as much as the TURKs needed him.

He grinned that Reeve was already aware of what happened. "He'll thank us later, yo. Gives him an excuse to get back to drawing blueprints - I think he misses his old job a little. He always was an artist, not a fighter."

He looked down at Dark Nation who was still nudging his hand, giving in and scratching him behind the ear. "I'll walk him if you promise not to die the second our backs are turned," he retorted with a smirk. "Actually, if you pack things up here then Dark Nation and I can escort you to the new area - where I know you'll be safe - and then I won't have to worry about you while I'm gone, and Tseng might actually sleep for once."

"Nice, just in case I screwed up and the other floors cave in, huh?" He snorted softly, amused at being placed as high as Reeve could get away with. He pocketed the key cards and stepped into the hallway, indicating for Dark Nation to join him and awaited the President to do so too. "Ah well, there's a floor between that and us - we should be fine. We can become the monsters in the attic if that's how he wants to play it."

He kept his hand lightly on Dark Nation's shoulder as they walked, knowing that it made the rest of the building at ease - not because he couldn't control him.

"Why memorise it?" He asked suddenly, looking to Rufus and realising how stupid a question it was. "Expecting them to rise from their graves and come looking for their missing pay checks?"

And there was another of his bad habits, right there.

"That reminds me - who do I talk to about getting the money I was docked for playing video games? I think I've more than earnt it back," he grinned.

"Indiscretions?" Reno queried with an intrigued look. "I'm buggered then, really."

He gave another laugh - escaping death had that habit on him. If he couldn't get the sort of gratification he preferred after a fight then he simply became oddly jolly for a man with his job. "I'll be on my best behaviour, yo. No more walking around the place naked, no more inappropriate shower behaviours..."

He smirked, unable not to make it all about sex. "I'm joking, boss. Don't worry - I haven't failed you yet, have I?"

He fished one of the key cards out of his pocket and swiped it in the reader, giving a contented nod as the light switched to green. "Once we've got some computers running I'll make sure there's no holes in the system," he promised, pushing the door open and sending Dark Nation in first - they'd know soon enough if the hound found something untoward in their new home.

"Oh, hey - does this mean we get to claim offices at bedrooms?" He grinned. "I don't think I've had a room to myself since.... Well. Since."

"So how far to an 'indiscretion' is it if I tell you I love you right now?" Reno laughed, heading into the main area of the floor. "Some privacy would sure be nice - not that I've got anything against you lot but sometimes you don't want that feeling that someone is watching you when you sleep."

He looked around, content that the dog was correct. "Want me to help you set up anything before I head out with wag butt over there?"

Reno took it with a look of wonder - even at the HQ he didn't have a name plate. "Boss, you must really be starting to like me." He gave a smile. "Cheers, yo."

He looked to Dark Nation. "Hey - make yourself useful and find me the office that smalls the nicest! Then I promise to throw a ball around for you. Deal?"

He wafted a hand at the hound, signalling for him to go do as he was told - thankfully he was smart enough to understand what he was being asked.

"Hmm, kitchen you say? Looks like we might be getting some decent coffee around here once Tseng has claimed a cupboard." He gave a knowing smile. "Not that I can't break in and borrow the Gongagan coffee - I'll share."

He watched Dark Nation run between the offices, coming back to the one nearest the kitchen. "Either he knows me too well..." He grinned, jogging over and throwing the door open, looking around it with an impressed nod. "Well, Mr Fundovski - consider yourself replaced." He slid the old name plate out and tossed it to DN who immediately latched onto it and started chewing. He slid his own in with a small smile, shining off his fingerprints with the cuff of his jacket. "Perfecto!"
