Mission from Hell [M]

Genesis glanced down at his hand that was held closely by the other redhead. He had almost forgotten how it felt, that touch that once had been so unfamiliar from him that two years ago, Reno had taught him to embrace. Genesis loved Reno deeply, that was a fact, but there were things that had to happen things that he needed to keep a secret from Reno. "I don't want to talk about it, Reno."

He knew that he had replied darkly and once again had closed off and put a wall up, a wall that two years ago Reno had broken down. One that had once again had gone up when he left ShinRa. Two years ago, Reno had saved his life by opening Genesis and now it was a mystery just how long it would take this time.

He stiffened when suddenly he felt those arms wrapped around him, gently nuzzling at his chest. "You're right.... we should leave, but first let's get you a change of clothes."

Reno could almost feel the walls go up between them, and while it hurt to know that Genesis was keeping something from him he also knew what it was like to not be able to talk about things. It had always been a problem between them. 'How was your day?' was a phrase he'd taught himself not to ask, and one that Gen had already known he didn't want to know the answer, especially when the TURK would appear at his apartment practically dripping with blood.

"We should probably get several changes of clothes for us both," he agreed. "And food. It's not as though either of us are particularly inconspicuous and can head to the grocery store..."

He leant up and kissed Gen softly. "We're going to be fine..."

Genesis felt bad about putting up that wall, but he had no choice. He was really only doing this for Reno's safety, if Reno ever knew the truth about him, he would probably never trust him again. It was important for him to be the hero... for Reno, he needed to be the hero. Genesis never really asked Reno personal questions, and in turn Reno never asked him personal questions. It was strange, but for them it worked.

The two gathered clothes and food, though not much, just enough for Reno to be able to carry, and headed out to Cosmo Canyon. It wasn't the best place for them to stay and Genesis felt ridden with guilt for that, because he loved Reno and he wanted to give him a good life, and until the goddess finally sends something to kill Sephiroth for him that was never going to happen.

Reno had been lucky to find a flint and steel set in Genesis' home, and made sure to pack it with everything else. Once in Cosmo Canyon he set about collecting firewood, laying it neatly at the entrance of the cave, before which he sat cross-legged, striking the flint and stone over the char cloth rhythmically until it caught the sparks and began to smoulder. Carefully he folded it and placed it at the heart of the firewood, gently blowing on it to start a flame.

He grinned as the flames took to the wood. "We should be fine - there's usually a few campers out here, no one will think twice seeing a fire in one of the caves."

He held his hands to the fire for a minute before getting to his feet, going to the edge of the cliff that was only a few steps from the mouth of the cave. There were ways to climb up to where they were, he noted, and so it definitely wouldn't raise any questions. It was mostly cut off from the network of underground tunnels, a cave-in having blocked it off. A blast from a Fire materia would clear it easily, but Reno didn't want to do that until it was necessary.

He folded his arms and looked out over the canyon as the sun set, a small smile playing on his lips. It might not have been the ideal location but there was no denying that the view was perfect.

Genesis walked over near the cliff where Reno stood and wrapped his arms around his lover's waist, the view was gorgeous. They didn't really have much to sleep on not having the ability to pack a sleeping bag without it really slowing down Genesis as he flew to the Canyon. He kissed the back of Reno's neck and held him in his arms closely. He'd figured that absolutely nothing would have stopped him from getting the S-Cells from Sephiroth, but now here he was in a Canyon, hiding from him.

He smiled as his hands ran through Reno's long hair. "I love you - I'm sorry for leaving like I did, just understand that I had to do it, I couldn't let you see all those things that I had to do."

Genesis was completely aware that Reno had just as many horrible things in his past as he did, but it was the reasoning behind it that destroyed Genesis. He had killed both his parents and Angeal's mother just because of the fact that he was capable of doing so. There was never a reason for any of those things that he did, and there would be even less of a reason when Sephiroth catches up with them and he has to run again, without Reno this time. It completely destroyed him just thinking of having to do that but he knew he had no choice.

Reno pulled Gen's arms closer around him, leaning back with a quiet, contented sigh at being held like that again. He'd missed being truly intimate with someone, feeling close to them and knowing that when you woke up the next morning they would still be there, still happy to see you.

"I know," he said softly. "I just wish you'd come to your senses and realise that I love you too, and that nothing is going to change that... and I won't let anything take you from me again." He turned in Gen's arms and looked at him seriously. "I don't care if we have to kill the entire ShinRa armed forces... I'm not leaving you, or letting you leave me. I can't go through it again..."

Genesis would never know what it had done to him to be abandoned the way he was, to not know whether the person you love is dead, why or where they had gone if they were alive. He had been the only good thing in Reno's life, the only thing that made him feel like it was worth waking up in the morning to do the things he had to in order to be permitted to live.

"So stop planning on how you're going to get away when they come for us," he turned again, pulling Gen's arms even closer, "and start planning how we are getting away."

Genesis looked over at Reno, there wasn't a single day that he had stopped thinking about him since the day he left. "There is no hate, only joy for you are beloved by the goddess. Hero of the dawn, healer of worlds. Dreams of the morrow hath the shattered soul. Pride is lost. Wings stripped away, the end is nigh. My friend do you fly away, no? To a world that abhors you and I? All that awaits you is a somber no matter where the winds may blow. My friends, your desire is the bringer of life, the gift of the goddess. Even if the marrow is barren of promises, nothing shall forestall my return."

Genesis had always believed that Loveless was about him, Sephiroth and Angeal, but now as he looks into Reno's eyes, he could see another person in the equation: Reno.

"You do know that any which way you look at that... I lose you," Reno sighed quietly. "If you're the prisoner then you die... and if you are the wanderer than you don't truly love me, because he never found love because of the quest. We never hear about the hero, though... maybe there's hope for us yet."

He had little of Genesis left when he disappeared, an old and battered copy of Loveless being one. It used to drive him almost to despair when Gen would quote it, but in the two years since he had come to see it as the only thing still linking them together.

"Still can't stand the play," he muttered. "I think I've seen it at least five times since... and I still can't bring myself to like it. The poems... the book... That's a different story."

"I lost you once, I'm not going to let it happen again... the end was wrong," Genesis softly says. "I'm not going to die... and I love you more I do anything else in this whole damn universe, and I always will. I'm always going to be your hero, Reno... I'll never leave."

Genesis was a little surprised at Reno's reaction to him quoting Loveless, but it seemed that he had earned a love for it now. He remembered giving Reno a copy of Loveless as a gift for his last birthday that they had together.

Genesis stood there, his wing still out, he placed a hand on Reno's cheek and stroked it. "You've changed me in way I never thought possible," he whispered as he leaned in and pressed his lips right against Reno's.

Reno leant into the kiss; he had needed to hear it, that this wasn't going to be a flight of fancy that died away as fast as it had happened. "You were always my hero anyway," he replied with a smile. "I'm not much of a damsel in distress, so you'll just have to make do."

He kissed Gen softly, his fingers gently running through his hair. "We could check the other caves to see if there's any camping equipment left behind - I remember coming here hiking with Cissnei and Rude and discovering we didn't need to drag everything with us because someone had abandoned everything. We might get lucky in one of the easier to reach caves. If not we can always make a run to the town - they know me and know not to ask questions and if anyone asks that they haven't seen me. Especially if it's Tseng."

He chuckled softly, remembering that escapade.

Genesis smiled at Reno; this was exactly why he loved Reno so much, because he wasn't your typical damsel but still he always saw him as some sort of hero. "I'm afraid I'm not much of a hero," he replied.

"Mmm. I don't know, I think I just want to stand here and kiss you right now, since you know we never really finished back in the swamps." Genesis said with a smirk.

"You got me away from ShinRa - if that doesn't count as a heroic act, I don't know what does."

It was no secret that Reno wasn't a fan of the company, though he would never talk about why - but as with every TURK it could be presumed that it was about how he came to join. He'd have left sooner if the opportunity had been there, but it hadn't of been.

He grinned at Gen's suggestion, his hands slipping down to grab his ass. "I wonder how much lube we packed 'just in case' one of us forgot it," he laughed. "Knowing us it's half of the hold-all's contents."

He leant up and kissed him with a purr. "Why don't we go by the river? The ground is softer, I can clean myself up seeing as I still look like I slept in a truck engine... and then we can come back up here, dry off by the fire?"

Ever since issues with his parents, Genesis never knew how to trust easily, but that mostly went down to his father. The man had screwed him up big time, it was a shock he ever really trusted another man again. He could remember countless of his father forcing himself on him and he could also remember that leading him to his years as a male escort when he was a teenager.

Gen chuckled, "I'm sure we have enough," he said, wrapping his arms around Reno's waist.

He smiled at Reno's idea, "Sounds perfect."

Reno kissed him again before turning to look out at the canyon. "The fire should be fine while we're gone - we can use it to find our way back since it'll be too dark to see by then. Unless it's a full moon..?"

He had no concept of what phase the moon was in since he hadn't been able to see the sky for longer than he cared to think. He was surprised that the coughing had seemingly stopped already, though the heaviness was still there. Perhaps he would be lucky and simply keeping warm would keep him from becoming any more ill.

"We should bring the bag - just in case," he decided. "We should always be ready to leave quickly."

He knew that he was telling the ex-General something he already knew, it was military training at it's most basic, but it felt better to say it aloud.

"Come on, angel, show me the stars," he teased lightly, reaching back and running his fingers through Gen's hair.

Genesis rubbed Reno's arm and looked over at the canyon. "Hmmm full moon, huh? That'd be kind of romantic."

Genesis hadn't really been paying much attention to the moon as of late, he'd been way to busy being on the run. It hadn't been a good and he hated it, but the things he had to do to protect himself was more important. That's why he didn't tell Reno when he left, because was the only person besides himself that he ever really cared about.

"Good idea," he said. "Who knows when Seph may catch up to us."

Reno slowly pried himself from Genesis and went to the back of the cave, scooping up the bag and slinging it over his shoulder again. The weight didn't bother him, but he knew that every extra pound that Genesis had to carry made it harder for him to fly.

He ducked under the wing and slipped his arm around Gen's waist. "Well, I know I always said that if I had to live in a cave to be with you, that I'd do it... Who knew that you'd get to test me on that?"

He grinned and kissed his cheek. "Come on, before you change your mind about rolling about in the dirt with me."

Genesis wrapped his arms around Reno's waist as he took flight, finally the two of them landed at the river. When the two of them land, Genesis soon presses his lips right against Reno's. "It feels like it's been forever since we've done this." He purred.

"It has been forever," Reno chuckled, pulling him deeper into the kiss, letting the bag slide down his arm and snagging it with his hand to let it drop gently to the ground.

He hadn't thought he'd ever see Gen again, and since he had come back everything had happened so quickly... and yet somehow it all felt right, being with Genesis again felt so right. In his heart he was convinced that they were going to beat the odds and stay hidden, but his head knew that it was only a matter of time and that they needed to savour each moment they had together as if it were their last.

Even though he was consumed by his feelings for Genesis, his TURK training was still intact, his ears picking up on the slightest sounds of the animals in the area. He wanted to relax completely but he knew that it wasn't until they were back at the cave that he could relax a little more.


He pulled back from the embrace, grabbing Gen's hand and moving to a flatter patch of ground, sinking to his knees and tugging his hand to have him join him. He didn't wait, though, for Genesis to react, his other hand popping the button on his lover's pants and unzipping them, moving forward and nuzzling his thigh.

"Mmmm, Reno," Gen moaned, moving his hand towards his fiance's waist and then leading down to unbutton the pants Reno was wearing while he slipped off his own. He slid off his own coat that Reno had been wearing and then unbuttoned the shirt he was wearing.

"Goddess I missed you, you're gorgeous." He breathed.

"I'm still a scrawny brat," Reno said with a faint blush, not meeting Gen's eye. He hadn't felt attractive since Gen left, and in truth his trying to seduce Seph was the first time he'd allowed himself to push it past the teasing to try and get anywhere. It almost had until Zack, and then his confidence took another blow.

He pulled his pants off and dropped them to one side, shifting forward and wrapping his arms around Gen's neck, kissing him lovingly. He needed this, not to feel better about himself, but to convince the doubting part of his mind that this was real, that it wasn't a hallucination or dream on his deathbed.

His hands run over his shoulders and biceps, trailing back up and then down his chest before up and into his hair. He was real, he had to be... Gods, he hoped he was.

And if he wasn't... then he was real enough.

"I love you," he sighed into the kiss. "Gods, I love you more than I can tell you."

"You look great to me," Genesis said as he kissed his neck, feeling the familiar taste in his mouth. Genesis hadn't had sex since he ran away from ShinRa, he even turned down Angeal which was something no one ever expected that he'd do. But he was more than glad that now everything was back to the way it was supposed to be.

He brought his body closer to Reno, placing his hands on Reno's hips, returning the loving kiss. This was all so perfect, and Genesis wished that it would be able to last forever.

Everything seemed so perfect. Every touch, every kiss. Genesis could hardly believe that it was truly real.

"I love you too," he said, "There hasn't been a single moment where I've stopped thinking of you."

"Me either," he smiled, nuzzling Gen's neck and kissing it in the spot he knew used to make him purr. "Tried to a few times when I was mad with you for leaving... It never worked and I ended up curling up with Loveless all over again." He pulled back, arms still around his neck, and looked him in the eyes, a faux serious look on his face. "You have a lot to answer for, getting me to read..."

He kept the serious face for a moment longer before breaking into a grin. "Goddess, I've missed being like this..." He trailed off, not wanting to say 'Happy for the first time in years', even if it was true.

"I want you," he said softly, pressing his lips to Gen's again. "Now."

"You know just what to do and say," he smiled, purring when Reno kissed him right in the spot on his next that the TURK knew he loved. "I just kept on trying to tell myself why I was there... But in the end I still ended up sitting there thinking of you." He smiled at him, his large black wing shielding Reno with protectiveness and love.

He smiled when he heard Reno saying 'goddess', it was something that he seemed to rub off on Reno. "I don't remember the last time I was this happy."

"Then take me," he purred, returning the kiss deeply against Reno's lips.

Reno carefully shifted Genesis so he was sitting, straddling his knees and reaching for the bag. His lips never left Gen's until he turned to see what he was grabbing at amongst the clothes, pulling out a small tube of lube and nuzzling Gen's wing gently as he turned back. He squeezed a reasonable amount onto his hand and slowly began stroking it over Gen's erection.

"I remember," he sighed softly. "We went out for dinner, invited a few raised eyebrows by not pretending we were anything but what we are. Then we went to a nightclub, danced until we could hardly stand and then toppled into your bed, curled up and just kissed until we fell asleep... It was perfect."

He didn't need to say that it was the night before Genesis left, nor did he have to say that he'd always wondered if that night had been a goodbye. It didn't matter any more, they were together again and nothing was going to come between them.

He kissed him again with a purr before turning, his back flush against Gen's chest as he lowered himself down onto Gen's cock. He knew he should have prepped first, it had been so long after all, but he was impatient to feel his lover inside of him. He bit his lip lightly as he slowly pushed down, the pain not as bad as he expected it to be, settling for a moment once he'd taken him in completely, panting softly at how much effort it had taken to do something he once took for granted as simple.

Reno's arms went back and around Gen's neck. "This almost feels better than I remember," he chuckled huskily, carefully pushing himself up and sinking back down again, slowly getting himself used to it all over again.
